Tom began Morrison Scientific on his 30'th birthday in 1988. During the past decade the company has grown and now has approximately 10 people. Morrison Scientific performs statistical analyses, custom computer work, develops databases for corrosion, and works on other projects for the petroleum industry. Tom is half owner of the company.

Much worldly travel, including Antarctica, were he met his wife Kathy M. Austin, a poet and author from Michigan, who was on the same trip. Hawaii, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Botswana have also been visited by this pair. They plan to sail down a portion of the Peruvian Amazon river, visit Machu Piccu, the Macaw bird sanctuary at Tambopata in Peru, and the Galapagos Islands in 2000. Previous trips (alone) included the Canadian arctic and Greenland.
